ISBN13 and Chapters/Indigo
You
may have received the email below from Chapters in September, 2006:
Dear Indigo Trading Partner,
The purpose of this e-mail is to advise you how and when we plan to test and implement Indigo’s Outbound (PO) and Indigo’s Inbound (POA, Invoice, ASN) EDI documents which supports both a 10 and 13 digit ISBN.
What to expect – Outbound Document (PO 850):
Indigo’s EDI team
will be sending you a PO test file via email between September 19th and September
21st, 2006.
You will be required to validate and confirm that your systems can successfully
process this file by Friday September 29th
Starting October 2nd Indigo will start transmitting PO’s with both ISBN
10 and 13
What to expect – Inbound Documents (POA 855, Invoice 810, and ASN 856):
Indigo’s EDI team
will contact you by Sept 25th to schedule testing of all Inbound documents
to ensure that Indigo is able to successfully receive and processes your files
Please do NOT transmit any POA’s, Invoices or ASN’s containing both
ISBN 10 and 13 prior to completing this test with Indigo’s EDI team,
in which case you would continue sending only ISBN 10. Failure to comply with
this requirement could result in lost data and/or blocked documents.

What
this means for UnitechEDI clients
Purchase
Orders
UnitechEDI has worked with Chapters EDI group to test ISBN10 and ISBN13 in
EDI purchase orders. Chapters has approved the test and will not require UnitechEDI
clients to test POs with them separately. If you have release 3.138 or higher
of the EDIxl software installed on your system, you do not need to do anything
further to comply with Chapters ISBN13 initiative at this time.
To check your software release number, open the UnitechEDI dashboard and double
click Release Notes under the Other Options menu on the right hand side of
the dashboard. If your release number is lower than 3.138, you can download
and install the current release by clicking the Update Software button on
the dashboard.
Inbound Documents - POA 855 and Invoice 810
UnitechEDI is working with Chapters on this phase of their ISBN13 implementation.
We will notify you of the next steps when our testing with Chapters has been
completed.
