UnitechEDI Support - ISBN13
ISBN13 and Ingram 9/22/06
Ingram
is not ready to transmit ISBN13 formatted item identifiers at this time.
What
this means for UnitechEDI clients
UnitechEDI is working with Ingram to ensure that your EDI software will trade
ISBN10 and ISBN13 item identifiers when they are ready to make the switch.
You will be contacted either by UnitechEDI or by Ingram at that time.
If you have release 3.140 or higher of the EDIxl software installed on your
system, your software will comply with Ingram's ISBN13 initiative when they
are ready to roll it out. To check your software release number, open the
UnitechEDI dashboard and double click Release Notes under the Other Options
menu on the right hand side of the dashboard. If your release number is lower
than 3.140, you can download and install the current release by clicking the
Update Software button on the dashboard.
How
the software works
When Ingram sends you the first PO in the new format, the incoming PO file
will set a flag in the software identifying them as an ISBN13 trading partner.
Your subsequent outbound documents will be converted to ISBN13 formatted items
even if you are still using ISBN10 internally. It is important to note that
once Ingram has made the switch on their system, you MUST process a new format
PO from them on your system before you send them POAs or invoices.
Documents
going to Ingram
If you need to send POAs, invoices or ASNs to Ingram after they have made
the switch on their end, and you have not yet received a PO file from them,
the software will not know to convert these documents to ISBN13. Please contact
UnitechEDI support and we will manually flag your EDI system to identify Ingram
as an ISBN13 trading partner.
